否定的简略答语
在否定答语中，not可以直接跟在be afraid, believe, expect, fear, guess, hope, imagine, presume, suppose, think以及It seems / appears等之后。如：
—Has Anne got into university? 安妮上大学了吗?
—I am afraid not / believe not / I think not. it seems not. 恐怕是没有 / 我相信没有 / 我想没有。看来是没有。
与believe, expect, imagine, say, suppose及think等动词一起亦可用not…so，如I don’t believe so / ... imagine so / ... suppose so / . . think so. 我不相信是这样 / …这样推测 / …这样假设 / …这样想。
请看以下用例：
一It won’t take long, will it? 这用不了多长时间，是吗?
一No. I suppose not. / I don’t suppose so. 是的，我想用不了多长时间。
一The plane didn’t land in Calcutta, did it? 飞机没有在加尔各答降落，是吗?
一I believe not. / I don’t believe so. 是的，我想不会。
一Have you got a work permit? 你有工作许可证吗?
一I’ m afraid not. 对不起，我没有。
The answer of a negative question is the same in form as a general question, but when translated into Chinese, Yes is translated as "No" and no is translated as "Yes, yes". 否定疑问句的答语，形式上与一般疑问句相同，但翻译成汉语时，Yes译为“不”，No译为“对，是的”。 Its answer depends on the facts, using Yes if the case is true and No if it is not. 它的回答要根据事实情况而定，情况相符用Yes，不符则使用No。 Negative question, that is, the negative form of the general question, is a question beginning with the question word and not, often used to express the speaker's surprise, praise, blame, complaint, suggestion, invitation and other emotions or attitudes.
